SUMMER 2017 Internship
Dimond Bikes is looking for interns to aid in making the world’s fastest bike during summer 2017. Dimond Bikes is a small, young and rapidly growing company manufacturing high end carbon fiber triathlon bicycles in a factory located in downtown Des Moines. The entire process of taking a bike from raw carbon fiber to a painted bike ready to ship to a customer is completed in our facility. As an intern, you would have the opportunity to learn and have hands on experience in many of the processes involved in making a bicycle, including preforming, molding, machining and sanding.
Typical intern duties may include taking an in-depth dive into a specific step of the process and improving and standardizing procedures, learning valued skills to become an integral member of the production team, designing and building general factory improvement projects, implementing new, more efficient procedures, and being involved in the R&D process for new product design.
The ideal candidate has, most importantly, a willingness to work hard and get dirty, self-starting and autonomous outlook, and passion for solving problems and making improvements. Concrete skills desired include experience in SolidWorks or other 3D modeling and experience with machining, power tools, and some creativity while maintaining a good grasp on basic engineering principles. At Dimond Bikes, we have many unique problems and challenges. Though you may not be the prototypical candidate, if the job sounds appealing or you have a passion for bikes you are welcome to apply. Send a resume and cover letter to firstname.lastname@example.org.
